At Evergreen Outfitters, we like to get to know our customers, and we want you to get to know us. Owners Howard and Andy Thompson opened the doors of Evergreen Outfitters in 2006. Both die-hard outdoorspeople, the husband-and-wife team have been camping and backpacking around the world for more than 25 years. They’re expert navigators and have honed their survival skills through decades of wilderness hiking. Howard and Andy were drawn to Luray when, in 1997, they camped on the Massanutten Mountains. One evening after a great hike, they looked down into the lush and peaceful valley and agreed: Their goal was to make the area their home. Within a year, they purchased a house in Luray and by 2003 had moved from their primary home in the suburbs of Washington, D.C., and set up housekeeping in Page County. They soon adopted Lilly and Martha, their two loyal Lab-Border Collies, who often are found relaxing at the shop. Opening Evergreen Outfitters was a natural outgrowth of their love of the outdoors for Howard and Andy. Right time, right place, they say. Now they want to share their know-how with you. |
